DANGER: KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS. Magnets are not toys. The magnets pose a risk of death to small children, who may swallow them. Risk of injury: you may bruise your skin if it is caught between the magnet and a metal object. Magnets must not be soldered or welded - the NdFeB material is highly flammable. Neodymium magnets may break if they collide or fall to the ground - the slivers of a magnet normally have sharp edges. Powerful magnets can damage technical equipment and storage media. People with pacemakers or a defibrillator are particularly at risk. Coatings contain nickel and should not be handled with bare hands if you have a nickel allergy. If neodymium magnets are heated above 80C, they lose their magnetic effect.

These really work

The magnet is strong enough to hold a small model at any angle on the ball bearing. Although you can pick up ND magnets in bulk for a few cent each, it's genuinely hard to find one which has been profiled this way, and you don't actually need very many of them so they're good value at the price. What's not obvious from the pictures is that each magnet has a 1mm hole through the centre. So you don't need to glue one to each model. You can just put a small piece of 1mm steel wire into the model, and this will slide into the hole and stay firmly in place until you need to take it out again. These will work with metal 1/600 aircraft up to about C47 size, and for most metal 1/300 fighters. Anything beefier needs the next size up. I'd recommend fastening the ball to the stand using GreenStuff rather than glue, so as to get a strongly supported join. And don't forget; the magnet will attract other magnets, so you can put a 3mm ND magnet on your model and swap them that way.
